Picnic – June 18th – HOT!
Volunteers needed for the Go Blue! Celebration Event
June 18, 4-7:00 pm, Pearl Park
(Mostly 1-hour shifts)
To volunteer, please contact Gail Schaal at 763-392-5920 or gschaal@hedbergaggregates.com ASAP. We need to get volunteers for the picnic signed up by Friday, June 11, if possible.
Note to Go Blue Community Makeover project participants: any of these volunteer opportunities will count toward the 10-hour volunteer match requirement.
Griller (4 people)
One hour shifts starting at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30, or 6:30
Grill hot dogs for picnic
Table/Chair/Canopy Set-up (3 people)
2 – 4:00 pm
Set up tables/chairs/10 x 10 easy-up canopies for picnic (for eating, games, displays)
Tables/chairs/canopy Teardown (3 people)
7 – 8:00 pm
Tear down tables/chairs/10 x 10 easy-up canopies return to closet in Multi-Purpose Room
Buffet Table Helper (8 people, 2 per shift)
One hour shifts starting at 3, 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Run hot dogs to chafing dishes; set out buns; watermelon slices; condiments & cookies; make more lemonade if needed, etc.
Monitor – Kid’s Coloring Table (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Set out coloring paper; Crayola Washable markers; string/rope (plus clothes pins) to hang some of the pictures up – if doing under a canopy
Facepainting for Children (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Paint flowers, frogs, leaves, etc. on children’s faces
Stormwater Management Relay Game for Youth (5 people)
4:30 – 6:00 pm
Help at Station #1 where youth sort trash into recycling bins
Help at Station #2 where kids pour motor oil (really pancake syrup) into proper container
Help at Station #3 where youth plant artificial flowers/mulch
Help at Station #4 where kids rake up leaves & place in a compostable paper bag
Help at Station #5 where youth rake up “pet waste” (really brown Playdoh)
Go Blue T-shirt Distribution (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Help distribute Go Blue t-shirts to the Go Blue participating families
MCWD Enviroscape Display (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Children can sprinkle “pollution” (colored powder) and see what happens when it “rains”.
MCWD “Your Street Connects to Rivers & Lakes†Display (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Display has a pipe where users can drop balls of “stormwater” in the storm drain.
Photographer (3 people)
One hour shifts starting at 4, 5, and 6:00 pm
Take digital photos at the picnic & deliver them to Friends of Diamond Lake afterward.
